How do I read/download a book that is only in XML format ??

XML is a generic format; usually, the book will be in a certain "XML application", and the type of "application" will determine the viewer you require.

You could try a web browser, though.

Which specific book are you talking about?

Coulter's "North American species of Cactus" This one is only in XML.

Unfortunately, the text file for that book is offline right now.

However, here's an off-site location for it:
