Also another and perhaps far more important concern. I'm really wary of copyright infringement. The few times I've posted transfers of 78s to YouTube has resulted in either:
A, A 'rights holder' claims ownership and the video is allowed to stand.
Or
B: Dire warnings about copyright infringement and threats to delete my YouTube account.
Just to clarify: I have a huge record collection. I have countless hundreds of rare and obscure recordings I'd simply like to get out there for people to listen to and enjoy. In the past, I produced over 500 radio shows and with ASCAP and BMI licensing agreements with the radio station, broadcasting this on air was never an issue. Now it seems that posting audio to the internet is a risky proposition. I have no interest in financial gain, I just want to share some great music from my collection. So what do I need to do regarding rights and usage terms for audio I'm posting here? Obviously, I'm not the original artist and copyright holder, I'm just a guy with a big record collection. I don't want to run afoul of the law and don't want to start getting threatening messages as I experienced on YouTube. Can I classify what I'm posting as "educational" or "non commercial" to prevent copyright strikes? I have to ask here because the FAQ section of this site does not provide any adivice or go into depth regarding this issue.
Thanks for any input or suggestions you can provide.
BTW, There is no SEARCH funciton for the forums??? I can't see it anywhere.

Also, I think it is okay for you to upload content that duplicates. If you get a reputation for posting good quality, then users will seek out your versions.
