McMullen Museum of Art Publications
The McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College publishes scholarly catalogues to accompany each of its exhibitions. Edited by the exhibitions’ curators, usually Boston College faculty members, the catalogues feature essays of original research by scholars from various disciplines and contain color images of each work in a given exhibition. On art and artifacts ranging in time and subject from ancient Rome, to seventeenth-century Japan, nineteenth-century Ireland, 1930s Cuba, and beyond, the McMullen publications distinguish themselves as not only records of the exhibitions at the Museum, but as scholarly contributions in keeping with the University’s research mission. As the print-run for each catalogue is limited, the Museum is pleased to make freely available here most of its publications beginning in 1991. Additions will continue to be made to the collection. Strengths are in the areas of Irish, ancient, medieval, Latin American, and Belgian art, and publications on individual artists, including Caravaggio, Paul Klee, Georges Rouault, Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, and Edvard Munch. Also included in this collection are publications resulting from Museum conferences, like The Pamphilj and the Arts.
