The M.C. Migel Memorial Collection at the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is believed to be the largest research library on the non-medical aspects of blindness and visual impairment in the world. Established in 1926 by the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB), the Migel Collection was acquired by APH in 2009. The collection contains items on aging, orientation and mobility, education, employment, and rehabilitation. It also includes a collection of items relating to deaf-blindness, fictional titles that feature visually impaired characters or authors, non-English language books on Helen Keller, and the only known collection of music-by and materials-about musicians who are visually impaired.

The American Printing House for the Blind was founded in 1858 and began publishing an annual report in 1860. These, and other historic annual reports, have been indexed by the APH museum.

American Association of Workers for the Blind Proceedings -

The American Association of Workers for the Blind (AAWB) was created in 1905. It consisted primarily of administrators and workers at sheltered workshops. Later, other blindness professionals (particularly those from vocational rehabilitation programs) joined the AAWB. The AAIB (the instructors) and the AAWB (the workers) joined together in 1984 to become The Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER).
